Fortunately, the genuine Viper 7701V Responder SST 2-Way LCD remote control remains available as the replacement option for compatible Directed Electronics security and remote-start systems.
The original Viper 7642V and equivalent Clifford 7642X, Python 7642P and Directed 7642T one-way SST companion remotes have all been discontinued. There is no longer a new one-way companion remote available for these systems.

The Viper 7642V was a one-way SST companion transmitter. The available Viper 7701V is a 2-Way Responder SST LCD remote that provides visual confirmation of supported vehicle functions.
The Viper 7701V is the remaining replacement option for compatible systems. It is not a one-way remote. The original Clifford 7701X and Python 7701P two-way LCD transmitters are also discontinued.
The Viper 7701V will NOT replace the Viper 479V, Clifford 479X or Python 479P.
These older remote controls use a different transmitter system. Do not purchase this listing as a replacement for a 479-series remote. Also not compatible with Venom SST systems.
The replacement Viper 7701V must be programmed to a compatible, functioning Directed Electronics security or remote-start system before use.
The Viper 6701T antenna/receiver is associated with original Viper 5500 and 5900 SST systems. Check your installed system and receiver before ordering. Refer to the separate Programming Instructions tab for pairing information.

Responder SST 2-Way LCD Remote Control - Directed Electronics Learn Routine
Follow these instructions to program your Viper 7701V 2-Way LCD remote to a compatible, functioning security or remote-start system.
Before beginning, locate the vehicle's Valet/Program switch. The switch must be connected to the BLUE port on the system's control unit.
Channel 1: Auto-Learn Standard Configuration.
Channel 11: Delete All Transmitters.
Important: Do not select Channel 11 unless you intentionally want to erase all previously programmed remotes.
LOCK: Arms and locks the system.
UNLOCK: Disarms and unlocks the system.
AUX: Operates Channel 2.
SIREN / STAR: Panic function. Remote-start operation may vary depending on the installed system and configuration.
LOCK + UNLOCK / STAR together: Operates Channel 3 where supported.
P BUTTON ON BACK: Opens the transmitter programming menu. Refer to the system owner's guide for additional details.
These programming instructions are specifically for the Viper 7701V Responder SST and compatible systems.
The visually similar Viper 479V, Clifford 479X and Python 479P remotes use an incompatible remote system. The 7701V cannot replace those models.
