The cabinet is built from sturdy 3/4" MDF to provide the rigid foundation required for serious low-frequency performance. Alpine also incorporates threaded mounting inserts that allow the subwoofer orientation to be reversed for additional installation flexibility.
Alpine's innovative ProLink™ technology lets you start with a single R2-SB12V enclosure and expand the system later. Using the optional ProLink™ Linking Kit, a second compatible Alpine Halo enclosure can be mechanically connected to create a clean, integrated dual-subwoofer system.

The R2-SB12V comes preloaded with Alpine's next-generation R2-W12D4 12" R-Series subwoofer. Large double-stacked magnets provide increased motor force for deeper bass and tighter control over cone movement compared with the previous generation.
An integrated Faraday ring helps reduce distortion, while the Kevlar-reinforced pulp cone provides the strength and rigidity required for dependable operation at high output levels. The larger 12" cone also moves more air than the 10" version, delivering greater low-frequency impact and deeper bass extension.
The R2-Series subwoofer uses a polypropylene and ceramic composite dust cap engineered for excellent rigidity and internal damping. Its ability to absorb unwanted vibration helps smooth the bass response while its high heat resistance contributes to dependable performance during extended listening sessions.
Alpine's High-Amplitude Multi-Roll H.A.M.R. surround technology allows the subwoofer cone to move through an impressive 20mm X-Max while maintaining control. The R2-SB12V's vented enclosure uses an optimized port with rounded internal edges to improve airflow and maximize subwoofer performance.
